It’s got a lot of history that I plan to explore along with design. In fact, i hope this blog to be more than just travel and photography. I want to get in-depth into not only the images but the history of the things I photograph.
It’s only 40 miles from Cork City, which is the max commute time you’d want. It’s also geographically in the center of West Cork, so it’s convenient to other towns like Cork, Bantry, Skibbereen, etc.
It’s cheaper than the city but still within commuting distance. Being a freelancer means making every penny count and rent in Cork city is as high as in Austin.
This leads me to the last point of picking a country town over the city- a little more peace and quiet. I was worn out from city noise and though things are so convenient there, the noise and traffic do lead to exasperation. Whereas here, I can drive up to Cork if needed or I can take the bus which is cheap and easy and just as quick as driving. And I won’t have the hassle of finding parking in the city.
